The six off Guides, weighing between 18 tonnes and 50 tonnes, were installed to assist with locating the BCM into its final position and protection of the existing equipment and pipework on the CPF from installation impact loads as the Module was lifted into position onto the main deck of the CPF.

A key objective of the project was to install the Guides safely in position on the CPF while the facility is fully operational. As Installation will take place during cyclone season, the guides were engineered to ensure they were safely lashed in the event of a cyclone.

The scope involved:

• Design, engineering and fabrication of various onboarding and installation aids such as chemical injection skid crash protectors, hydraulic leveling system and a temporary Davit Crane.
• Two of the guides needed to be positioned inside the crane’s minimum crane radius. This required the design and fabrication of skidding systems with rollers, tirfors and hydraulic jacks.
• Design and engineering for the marine transportation of six off BCM Guides from Batam, Indonesia to the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin offshore using a Platform Supply Vessel (PSV).
• Guides lift rigging design, engineering and lift plans development for the lifting of the Guides from the PSV to the CPF main deck.
• The design and engineering of Cyclone Lashing to secure the Guides in pre-installation position over the CPF main deck for cyclone readiness.
• Overall Guides installation methodology and procedure development.
