Class Approval Management
ICON’s offshore personnel have extensive experience with MODU inspections, including maintenance, class survey and condition reports. ICON engineers can mobilise at short notice to identify issues and suggest repair and maintenance solutions.
Typical maintenance activities carried out include:
- NDT of lifting equipment
- Replacement of handrailing and grating
- Repairs to the rig’s hull
- Replacement of stairs
- Chain locker repairs
- Crane repairs and replacement
- Fairlead replacement
ICON has been involved in a number of offshore inspections and follow on refurbishment projects on MODU’s including chain locker corrosion repair, hull impact damage repair, fairlead replacements, chain gypsy, heli-deck and main deck replacement works to name a few.
These scopes may include design work, coordination with class societies such as DNV/ABS, fabrication and offshore installation. By taking complete ownership of these works, ICON can take your class approval headaches away by liaising directly with the necessary verification bodies.
ICON also offers assistance in obtaining or maintaining classification approvals for both owners and operators of MODUs. Maintenance of classification requires ongoing periodic surveys of the MODU over its service life to ensure that the rig remains in compliance with the applicable classification standards.
