Six metre Advanced Riser Tension Protection System lands on semi-sub

Following the success of a previous campaign, which utilized a 3m Advanced Riser Tension Protection System (ARTP), ICON was commissioned by the same client to develop a new 6m system for their subsequent completions project. This system was deployed on a Semi-Sub Drill Rig.

The ICON ARTP is engineered to create a structural link between the rig’s top drive and the surface flow tree, ensuring a safe work window for rigging up surface pressure control equipment, such as coiled tubing or wireline.

The pneumatic cylinders offer riser over-tension protection with automatic backup heave compensation, safeguarding the riser and landing string from excessive top tension in the event of a drill string compensator failure.
