"Rapidly Rig Installable and Re-Usable Suction Bucket Wellhead Platforms": OTC Asia Conference paper
How to reduce wellhead platform capex costs by standardising components, installing platforms using jackup rigs instead of barges, and employing suction pile technology will be explained by industry leaders in Kuala Lumpur this week.
"Rapidly Rig Installable and Re-Usable Suction Bucket Wellhead Platforms" is a paper on behalf of partners NGI and ICON Engineering at the OTC Conference in Malaysia on Friday.
The reduction in decommissioning costs by installing re-usable suction anchors is sure to be an issue of interest, with the current global focus on decommissioning.
The paper is co-authored by Andrew Deeks, Peter Gaunt, Øyvind Torgersrud and Noel Boylan from NGI (www.ngi.no), and David Field and Darren O'Leary from ICON Engineering (www.iconeng.com.au).
It will reinforce companies' collaboration, which combines ICON's Minimal Facility Wellhead Platform designs, with NGI's specialist knowledge of Suction Pile Technology.
The conference runs at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 20-23 March.
