Specialist drilling equipment takes a chartered flight
In March this year, ICON transported 100 tonnes of specialist drilling equipment from Europe to Australia in less than 48 hours door-to-door, including ground freight and customs clearance both ends.
In March this year, ICON transported 100 tonnes of specialist drilling equipment from Europe to Australia in less than 48 hours door-to-door, including ground freight and customs clearance both ends.
How? By chartering a Boeing 747 Freighter.
ICON personnel weathered sub-zero temperatures and blizzard conditions in Europe to oversee the cargo loading which filled the 747 Freighter to its maximum payload capacity, and were also on hand to receive the goods in Perth. The equipment was assembled and tested locally at ICON's yard in Henderson, and will be supplied to a major oil and gas operator for use on a MODU off the coast of North Western Australia.
The ICON team saw the charter flight as a demonstration of the company's ability to execute complex procurement and logistics operations on an international scale, complementing its engineering design, fabrication, construction and installation services.
