Compensated Lift Frame finishes field tests
ICON Engineering has completed the successful offshore trial rig up of its latest Heave Compensated Tension Lift Frame (CTLF), which can be run as the primary compensator, or as back-up to the rig's drill string compensator to safeguard against unintentional lock-up.
This innovative design suits coiled tubing and wireline intervention operations where heave compensation is required, notably deepwater drilling and completions activities. The CTLF can be run as the primary compensator, or as back-up to the rig's drill string compensator to safeguard against unintentional lock-up.
It was installed on a semisubmersible drilling rig and is currently in operation on a Western Australian project.
