BHP Petroleum - Buffalo Field Development
Timor Sea Installation of
Wellhead Platform ICON Engineering was engaged to install the Buffalo Field wellhead
platform in 30m of water in the Timor Sea north of Darwin Australia.
ICON assisted with the preparation of the installation
contracts for the FPSO and infield pipelines and interfaced directly
with BHPP's drilling department on issues relating to the use of the
jackup rig Ron Tappmeyer for the installation work.
Talisman Malaysia
East Bunga Raya – BR-D Platform
Substructure and MOAB Installation
ICON Engineering was engaged by Talisman Malaysia to undertake
the installation engineering for the MOAB structure at the Bunga Raya
field. ICON Engineering developed the installation procedures including
detailed stability analysis for the tow and sinking of the substructure.
ICON Engineering performed geotechnical installation analysis, selected
the suction pumps for installation of the suction piles and designed
the ballasting umbilical system.
Wandoo and Woollybutt Fields
Operating and Abandonment
Liability Assessment ICON Engineering was engaged by a consortium of bidders to undertake
the following work scopes:
• Identify regulatory requirements
• Define procedures for removal of all facilities.
• Prepare cost estimates to P10, P50 and P90 levels for
facility and well
abandonment
• Determine the ongoing operating costs
Shell UK Limited
Skiff Field Development
Platform Installation by Jackup Rig
ICON Engineering was commissioned by Shell to provide assistance
with the installation of the Skiff platform in the Southern North Sea.
The platform was installed by a jackup drilling rig. This was the first
platform to be installed by this means in the UK sector of the North
Sea. The installed cost was a fraction of that required using conventional methods
The project won the British Government Construction Industry Civil Engineering
Award for 2000 in recognition of the novel design and installation method
which challenged traditional practices.
Newfield Petroleum
Jabiru Field Abandonment Study
ICON Engineering was employed by Newfield to perform a study of the
abandonment of the Jabiru Field. ICON produced a report outlining the
costs and issues associated with the various options to assist the client
in
discussions with regulatory authorities.
