The study addressed trencher and plough
options for stabilising the proposed 42” second trunkline. Trenching
machine options were considered due to the existence of cap rock,
which cannot be ploughed over a large proportion of the route. The concept
utilised two powerful cutter slicers, which precede the plough and allow
the material to be removed by the plough section.
This project was carried out in conjunction with several other specialist
sub- consultants.

ICON Engineering was engaged to reanalyse the Saladin A platform to
support an additional well conductor. The work involved analysis and
detailed design work for the conductor guide and hatches. The optimum
solution chosen utilised a single conductor guide just above water and
avoided any installation work below the water surface. ICON provided
a turnkey service covering conceptual and detailed design, fabrication,
preparation of installation procedures and supervision of offshore installation.

ICON was commissioned to project manage and execute several projects
on the Sedco 702 rig. These included ; repair of vessel impact damage
to a stability column and replacement of a chain locker lining.
In each case, the work involved preparation of the repair procedures,
procurement of materials, prefabrication, execution of the repair work
offshore and preparation of ‘as built’ documentation for
submission to the classifying authority American Bureau of Shipping.

ICON founders, Garrick Aberle and David Field were respectively the
Project Manager and Designer / Senior Installation Engineer for this
project. The development consists of 4 monopod platforms, two subsea
pipelines and shore based oil separation and gas sales conditioning
facilities.
The 26 km long, 3 phase, 26” diameter production line and 36 km
long, 6” gas export line were constructed using the beach pulled
/ bottom tow method. At the time, this was one of the longest pipelines
in the world constructed in this manner.
